Camden Freeway (I-95 Western Route via I-295) Northbound Camden Freeway (I-95 Western Route via I-295) Southbound
This is the beginning of the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north in Hopewell Township.  This was originally meant to be a high-speed, high-capacity ramp from I-95 north, the Scudders Falls Expressway, to I-295 south, the Camden Freeway.  Because I-95 north of here, the Somerset Freeway, was not built between here and the Middlesex Freeway, I-287, in Piscataway, this was expanded to 6 lanes from the original 4 in the early 1990's, and the official I-95 designation was extended 4 miles east along I-295, the Camden Freeway.  This also resulted in I-295 from US 1 to I-195 and I-195 from I-295 to the New Jersey Turnpike becoming the unofficial I-95 (Western Route).  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the beginning of the Camden Freeway section of I-95 (Western Route) south, a.k.a. I-295 north, in Hamilton Township.  The main freeway is at the end of this ramp from I-195 west.  Between 1987 and 1994, this was a two-lane divided roadway connecting I-295 south to I-195 east, and I-195 west to I-295 north.  When the permanent ramp from I-295 south to I-195 east was completed in 1994, this ramp, which carries the unofficial I-95 (Western Route) between I-195 and I-295, was reconfigured to its current form.  Filmed August 13, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) south, a.k.a. I-295 north, in Hamilton Township.  The main expressway is the lanes to the left of this merging lane for the ramp from I-195 west, which carries the unofficial I-95 (Western Route) onto I-295 from I-195.  Filmed August 13, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north, south of exit 7(US 206, Trenton, Lawrenceville, Princeton) in Hopewell Township.  Just now, the SB carriageway is becoming visible from behind the trees that grow in the space reserved for the unbuilt ramps to the unbuilt Somerset Freeway, I-95 north.  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) south, a.k.a. I-295 north, approaching exit 61(Arena Drive, Whitehorse Avenue, Olden Avenue) in Hamilton Township.  Filmed August 13, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north, at exit 7(US 206, Trenton, Lawrenceville, Princeton) in Lawrence Township.  This was exit 69 on I-295 before I-95 was extended to US 1 in 1994.  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north, at exit 8(East CR 546, CR 583, Princeton Pike) in Lawrence Township.  This was exit 68 on I-295 before I-95 was extended to US 1 in 1994.  Note the "To South I-295" sign on the left, indicated the approach of the official demise of I-95.  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) south, a.k.a. I-295 north, just before exit 63(NJ 33, To CR 535, Mercerville, Trenton) in Hamilton Township.  Filmed August 13, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north, a.k.a. I-295 south, at exit 67(US 1, New Brunswick, Trenton) in Lawrence Township.  Officially, I-95 becomes I-295 here.  However, in practice, it is still I-95, as indicated by the overhead "South I-295, To I-195, North I-95, Bordentown, New York".  Until the I-95 designation was extended east to here in 1994, travellers trying to continue on I-95 towards New York were directed to US 1 instead, and a few of the old "To North I-95" signs still remain along US 1.  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) south, a.k.a. I-295 north, at exit 63(NJ 33, To CR 535, Mercerville, Trenton) in Hamilton Township.  There is very little signing along I-295 north that indicates this section's unofficial designation as I-95 (Western Route) south, as the overhead indicates.  Filmed August 13, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north, a.k.a. I-295 south, approaching exit 65(Sloan Avenue) in Lawrence Township.  The rise in the distance is for the Northeast Corridor Amtrack line.  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) south, a.k.a. I-295 north, after exit 65(Sloan Avenue) in Hamilton Township.  Note the "End I-295 / Begin I-95 / 1 1/2 miles" sign on the right, indicating the official demise of I-295 and the official beginning of I-95 (Western Route) that is just ahead.  Filmed August 13, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north, a.k.a. I-295 south, at exit 65(Sloan Avenue) in Hamilton Township.  Note the "South I-295" sign.  As this gantry shows, most overheads for I-295 do not reflect the "To I-95" that is signed further back.  Instead, most "To I-95" shields are posted on the roadsides.  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) south, at exit 5(Federal City Road) in Lawrence Township.  Filmed August 13, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) north, a.k.a. I-295 south, just before exit 60(South I-295, NJ 29, NJ 129, Camden, Trenton) in Hamilton Township.  Note the "I-195 to I-95" sign directing traffic to the exit, yet again indicating the change of direction of the unofficial I-95 (Western Route).  Filmed July 20, 1999.

This is the Camden Freeway, I-95 (Western Route) south, just south of exit 5(Federal City Road) in Hopewell Township.  On the left, NB carriageway is being obscured behind the trees that grow in the space reserved for the unbuilt ramps to the unbuilt Somerset Freeway, I-95 north.  Filmed August 13, 1999.
